Be Here
Now the How & Where
Getting Here
If you’re from California, just hop on the 101 and keep going until you get here! Some of you might even have to go all the way through Ventura. 😉
San Luis Obispo airport(SBP):
It’s 8 minutes from downtown and usually a ~$20 Uber ride. If you can fly in here, do that! Bonus: it’s brand new and quite nice.
IMPORTANT! We learned that between Oct. 3-8, the SLO airport’s runway will be closed for construction between 6pm – 6am. As of writing, some flights were still showing available that land after 6pm. We’ve spoken with the airport and have confirmed that the airlines should have updated, but haven’t yet. If you book a flight during this time, it will get cancelled or rescheduled! Details. Call us if you need help.
Other airports:Â
Santa Barbara Airport (SBA)
It’s a little bigger than SBP and Southwest is starting flight there. 1.5 hrs to SLO. Pretty drive up.Â
Los Angels (LAX):
3 hrs if you’re lucky enough to not hit traffic—but it’s LA, so you’ll hit traffic 90% of the time. Pretty drive up once you hit Ventura.
San Francisco area (SFO, SJC, OAK):
San Francisco (SFO), San Jose (SJC), and Oakland (OAK). ~3.5 hrs. Tip: The drive is usually shorter from SFO area than LA area. If you like farm valleys surrounded by mountains, its not a bad drive. You can also take the Big Sur scenic route.
Good to know:
Direct flights are always the best when flying into a small airport like SLO, because if a connecting flight is delayed, there aren’t that many into SLO per day. If you have a layover choice which doesn’t make a big cost or travel time difference, try not to route through SFO area airports due to fog. All that being said, Oct. is usually the BEST time to fly with least chance of fog issues.

Notes and Notables
Check Airbnb and vrbo, especially if you need more space. There are not many available right now, but it’s possible that’s due to COVID and haven’t been re-listed.
For those open to sharing an Airbnb/hotel with someone, let us know and we’ll connect you.
Keep in mind:Â We live in a place people vacation, so prices can be high. You may consider locking something in now, but check throughout the next few months to see if things lower or more options become available.
Our Hood
We are a stones throw from the train station and about five blocks from downtown. This part of town is know as the banana belt because the volcanic peaks block the sea breeze, so we’re about 10 degrees warmer than other parts of town.
Address: 1822 Chorro Street. Take a ride share to our house! If you cannot, please park a block or so away to be courteous to our neighbors.Â
